Overview

Founded in 1960, the Falcon Scout Troop has grown and evolved over the years, taking its place as a premier uniform group in Anglican High School. The unit is committed to groom its members in both their mental and physical aspects. Through scouting, our scouts can have ample opportunities to pursue excellence in various areas. They participate in activities such as pioneering, orienteering, and camping. In the process, they learned important values such as discipline, perseverance and teamwork. Scouts also participate in traditional scouting activities, like campfires which offer opportunities for bonding within the troop and with other troops. In 2012, two scouts from the troop were selected to represent Singapore in 13th National Korea Jamboree held at Gangwon Province, South Korea.

Through scouting, the scouts grew from little kids to become independent young adults; young adults who have matured both mentally and physically. The troop did the school proud when it achieved Gold for the Frank Cooper Sands Unit Award (2012) and Gold for National Patrol Camp (2011). Eight scouts were awarded with National Youth Achievement Award (Silver) in 2012 for their outstanding overall performance. The close ties that the seniors have with the school and their juniors prompt them to return to serve the troop even after they have graduated.

2013 was another year of great leap for the Anglican High Falcon Scouts, as the 51st Patrol Leaders’ Council (PLC) took over the roles of responsibilities and leadership from the 50th PLC. In May, our 51stPLC was given the opportunity to enroll in a leadership training hiking expedition, where they persevered and climbed to the summit of Mount Ophir, Malaysia (1,276 metres). Under the active contribution by the 51st PLC, the Falcons were also introduced to new proficiency courses such as Rock Climbing and Archery, which are new forms of experience and skills for them to learn.
This year, once again, the Anglican High Falcon Scouts has done the school proud by clinching another Gold Award for the Frank Cooper Sands Unit Award (2012). Furthermore, the unit was also conferred the FCSA Honours Pennant for clinching continuous five years of Gold Award. One of our scouts, Hsu Chi Yu, was also selected to represent the Scout Contingent to march in the National Day Parade 2013 at Marina Bay floating platform.
13 Scouts also received the National Youth Achievement Award (Silver) for their outstanding overall performance. Overall, year 2013 was a meaningful year for all of our Scouts, and may the Falcons continue to soar to a greater height as our history is continually written.
